About Family Gap

A framework shaped by lived experience,

pastoral care, and a commitment to serving families well.

Why Family Gap Exists

Family Gap exists to help churches recognize and respond to the realities families are living today.

Over time, family structures have changed in ways that are often difficult to name. Many churches continue to serve families faithfully, yet sense that existing ministry assumptions no longer fully align with the complexity families are navigating.

Family Gap was created to offer language, clarity, and perspective—so churches and families can move forward with greater understanding and care.

How This Work Is Shaped

The Family Gap framework is shaped by years of pastoral care, ministry leadership, and firsthand experience walking alongside families in complex situations.

Rather than offering programs or prescriptions, this work focuses on awareness, alignment, and thoughtful engagement—helping churches see what families are carrying and respond wisely within their unique context.

Grounded in Lived Experience

Family Gap did not emerge from research alone—it emerged from lived reality.

Navigating single parenting, blended family dynamics, co-parenting relationships, and new stages of family life often happens without clear guidance, meaningful support, or accessible resources. Many families are left to figure things out quietly, carrying the weight of responsibility while feeling unseen and unsure where to turn.

This framework was shaped in those spaces—where support was limited, encouragement was scarce, and clarity was missing. Family Gap exists to name what many families live every day, and to help churches respond with understanding, wisdom, and care.
